This is my second one of these flight controllers. After contacting lefeirc about the problems I was having updating the firmware and not being able to ARM the motors in VTOL mode, they were very helpful. The Manual needs to be changed to show how to ARM the motors as well as a little more detailed instructions for updating the firmware. The motors are ARMED in VTOL mode by moving both sticks down and out and keeping them there until the motors spin up for a split second. You then move the throttle up past 1/2 and the motors will run. The problem is that when you move the throttle down to 1/2 throttle the motors will shut off and not at the same time. I have asked them to update the firmware so that the throttle has full range and not just the upper half of the range. When updating the firmware you need to follow these steps; Do not have the FC powered up with the flight battery. Down load the SN_FAST_V57 from the lefeirc website. Plug in the USB to your computer. You should see a drive show up, on my computer it was Drive E. Copy the update file to the drive that showed up. Be sure that the name of the file only says SN_FAST and not SN_FAST_V57, otherwise the FC will not recognize the file. Unplug the USB cable and then plug in the flight battery. The FC will update and delete the file from the Drive and then go into its normal start up sequence. If you unplug the battery and plug the USB back in you will see that the Drive has no file in it. Q: Answer to my own question. I finally was able to update the Firmware. This is done by downloading the SN-FAST V57 file from lefeirc. Then change the name of the file to SN_FAST then copy to the Drive that shows up on the computer. in my case it was Drive E, when you connect the USB, then unplug the USB and power up the flight controller with the flight battery. It will do the update and erase the file from the Drive. Then you will hear the FC go through its normal startup sequence. You can then plug in the USB while the FC is powered up and your radio turned on and go into the GCS program and connect. Hope this helps others that purchase this FC.

Q: I can not get the firmware update to load. I have tried for hours to get the update to write in the Upgrade section of the GCS program. I takes over 3 hours for it to finally get to 100% then it will show 0%. I tried re-booting the FC, but the firmware is NOT loading. I need detailed and understandable instructions on how to update the firmware. I have been trying to get this done for the last 11 hours, and I am getting nowhere. With out the firmware update the FC will not function in VTOL mode. The motors on the wing will go to the vertical position but the motors will not run. The manufacturer needs to write a better software program that WILL UPDATE the firmware.

Krazyman Havetried to set this up yet? I am having a lot of trouble getting the firmware to update. Takes hours (I am not kidding) for it to write and when it finally reaches 100% the progress bar goes to zero and it does not update.

Looks to be a very good flight controller with everything supplied. Have yet to fit it to a model but as with anything from Banggood I expect it to work excellently.

Q: What USB Driver do I need to install so that my Windows 11 computer will connect to the FC? When I go into the Device Manager I see the FC show up as a Portable Device Drive e/. Because of this I can not connect using the GCS software. I also am not able to load the Firmware into the FC because the computer does not recognize the SN FAST.

I am really glad I bought this plane. It is very easy to fly and is also easy to land. I did replace the Wheels and landing gear. The wheels are made of EPO and are too wide for the axle. They ended up in the trash bin. The wire landing gear broke the weld on the second landing. I replaced the landing assembly with a aluminum landing gear and super lite 4 inch foam wheels. I would highly recommend this plane to anyone that wants a relaxing as well as mildly aerobatic plane.

Hrodelbert Basically,the VTOL is a kind of tricopter. In the setup you can use or try the tricopter setup. I really can't tell if the openaero vtoll firmware can be installed. I haven't got the experience. Sorry to tell. Download the kk manual from the site of Hobbyking. It's worth to try, because the kk flight controller isn't very expensive. You can use it on a rc-plane, quadcopter, multicopter. The manual also gives information about the right PID-settings and the rc-kinds you can use the kk on.However! The tricopter has a rearmotor with prop attached to a servo, so the tail functions as a rudder for the tricopter. How about the VTOLjQuery19108355591658648511_1582718452675?

I ordered two and have them installed and bound to my Jumper T16 Pro. They both seem to be working fine. I did have to re-calibrate the radio and also the throttle on one of the R8s, but that was simple to do. I feel that the R8 will work just fine for LOS flying with my park flyer planes. I will be buying more of these in the future.
