The dial indicator is of a good design. It has several mount point where the dove tail ridges allow secure yet adjustable grip locations. The needle point is on a friction clutch that allows some static position adjustments also. When combined with the magnetic stands flexible arms, can measure heights of part or vertical play of an axis slide mechanism. The indicator device came with a couple different attachment anchors of big and smaller diameters for clamping to by other stands or arms as needed.
