thanasaki dear friend, I guess, it will not work on 8V batteries. It is powered from the testing battery and perhaps it probably won't get on (needs at least 10V ) .

thanasaki Sadly, they are nowhere available. Though the blades are two-sided, therefore there is a possibility to swap them , when the first side wears out

thanasaki This tool is mostly intended for small scale work and modelling. It can be also used for nail caring but this job is better performed by the specialized tools for this purpose

thanasaki Actually , for metal plating a precise current source is needed. This device is a Voltage source with a (not very precise) current limiting feature . It can be used for plating though, with suitable electrodes and solution when used by a skilled person.
