This is an interesting kit, but it is incomplete and some parts are incorrect. The chassis is cut for a different project, and does not have the correct mounting points for the controller board or the sensor, so additional drilling is required. The instructions are incomplete - for instance there is no reference at all to the sensor assembly, which is quite complex. There is no wiring diagram, so a good knowledge of Arduino add-ons and power supply arrangement is required. There are 4 stand offs supplied, but there should be 12. Some soldering is required, as well as additional tools. Dupont connectors are not included. On the plus side, the sensor mount is actually a tilt-and pan mount for a camera, and can be upgraded with some readily-available extras. The castor has ball bearings. The sensor shield includes headers for a number of additional components, including a LCD display, SD card and Bluetooth (but note that the Arduino might not support all functions simultaneously). The encoder wheels are provided, but to get feedback on the number of steps for each wheel (for instance, to ensure straight-line tracking) you will need to add the opto sensors and create the required code. There are cutouts on the board for mounting the sensors. This is a simple robot that is a good basis for Arduino-based robot control, but be prepared to deal with the problems mentioned above.

Excellent value for the price. Both screens and UNO appear to be well made and are in good working order. Note that both displays include dual logic level converters, so these displays are fully 5v compatible. Delivered ahead of estimate. Packaging excellent (cardboard box in plastic envelope). Items are undamaged. Using the displays is not easy as the software provided in the downloads does not work. However the AdaFruit TFTLCD library works well, with some changes to the pinouts. Others have had success with the MCUFriend library. The 2.8" display includes 18-pin DIL header thruholes: the pinout is not documented but does include the serial port. The UNO has thruholes for headers (supplied) which could be used to get access to the GPIO pins concealed by the display. A nice feature, but it is actually easier to use a stackable prototype board between the UNO and the shield.

Delivery time as quoted. Packaging very ordinary, but items are undamaged. Using the displays is not easy as the software provided in the downloads does not work. However the AdaFruit TFTLCD library works well, with some changes to the pinouts. The 2.8" display appears to include connectors for the Arduino pins that are not accessible when the shield is installed - if so that is a nice feature, but they aren't mentioned in the documentation. The UNO has thruholes for headers (supplied) which could be used to get access to the GPIO pins concealed by the display. A nice feature, but it is actually easier to use a stackable prototype board between the UNO and the shield. The 2.4" display shows noise bars down one third of the display and is not usable. Would be good value for money if both displays worked.

JRichard Theboards have the pinout information printed on them, and the example code has the required pinouts listed for both UNO and MEGA, so there should be no problem wiring it up to the MEGA. I have not yet been able to get it to work as a shield for the MEGA, so wiring each pin might actually be the only option.

Q: How do these line up with Arduino boards. 5 cm looks like is wouldn't quite span both pin rows of an UNO for example.

JRichard Itwon't line up with both sides of the UNO or Mega. The original Arduino pin layout has an error: the two segments of the digital GPIO pins are not one pin-space apart. Therefore they cannot be inserted into a protoboard with holes evenly spaced along its whole length.

This item does what it says - it upgrades the Ender 3 Pro with a driver board that drives the steppers in almost complete silence, using the latest version of the software. The swapover is straightforward. A diagram of the board is provided, with only the controller case fan connector undocumented (it goes in the connector nearer the centre of the board). Note that, contrary to some of the on-line instructions, it is easiest to remove and replace most of the connections (especially the power) with the board free of the housing. The menu changes are insignificant. To make use of the self-levelling feature a separate kit is required. It is delivered packed in a foam cutout inside a cardboard box, and arrived promptly in perfect condition. Recommended.
