I tried this out on our 2.5 llitre Ford Transit-based motor home (RV if you speak $). It hasn't been used for some time because Covid restrictions here in the UK made trips difficult. The main battery was absolutely flat (it will need replacing in the spring when we start using the van again). The jump starter didn't work initially, probably because the vehicle battery was so bad, so I used the force start button on the cable connector and it worked! The engine started easily on the second turn of the key. This was a very severe test and it came through with flying colours. As modern car batteries are prone to failing without warning rather than, as formerly, dying slowly (it's happened to me a couple of times over the years) this will be a very useful addition to the emergency equipment we carry in both our diesel car and the motor home - just in case!
